The University maintains a Student Health Center staffed by three physicians, three registered nurses and four LPNs. The Health Center provides health care for non-critical illnesses and injuries during the academic year, but not during vacation or holiday periods. The Student Health Center has expanded its hours of operation until 7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The following services are available to students whether they have medical insurance or not: campus physician office visits for routine acute and chronic illnesses; diagnostic x-ray and laboratory; allergy injections; medications stocked by the pharmacy; health education; confidential HIV testing; reproductive consultation; mental health counseling; wellness /preventative care; and accidental death & dismemberment coverage.
The University provides a student accident and health insurance plan for students attending school on a full-time and part-time basis. The plan offers 24-hour coverage for accidents and illnesses occurring during each semester. Students are responsible for the payment of all services rendered by Student Assurance Services.
