Southern Alums Finish First in Run-Off Elections

Alumna Judy Moore Vendetto (’96) won the run-off election for Baton Rouge City Court Judge and Alumna Nicole Sheppard (’05) won the run-off for Orleans Civil District Judge during Saturday’s election. Pending certification of the results by the Secretary of State, both women will now become judges in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, respectively.

“What this election demonstrates again is how the diversity of our graduates leads to diversity in courts throughout the state,” Chancellor Pierre said in a statement. “We are proud of Judge-elect Vendetto and Judge-elect Sheppard and I look forward to watching their work on the bench.”
